Permessa Email Control!

Permessa Email Policy Enforcer

Proactively enforce email policies within and beyond your corporate network with Permessa Email Policy Enforcer.  Whether you use the recommended policies from the Permessa Email Control! suite or set your own, Permessa Email Policy Enforcer can prevent employee misuse and confidentiality breaches, while reducing email storage, network and bandwidth consumption.

Permessa Email Policy Enforcer protects email based on business processing rules. These rules may limit the size of each mail message, the number of internal and external recipients, the total impact of each message, and the type and size of attachments.  In addition, rules may be based on content and include inappropriate content, privacy leaks, Chinese Wall violations and more.  Rules can be applied to individual messages or to specific individuals or groups within your organization.

How Permessa Policy Enforcer Works

Permessa Email Policy Enforcer

The Mail Arbiter and Policy Server work together to monitor email traffic
and enforce corporate email policies.

Permessa Email Policy Enforcer consists of two components: Mail Arbiter and a virtual appliance. When messages arrive in mailbox, they are first examined by the Mail Arbiter. If the message conforms to the business rules, it's routed to the recipient(s) Inbox. If a message doesn't conform to the business rules or if further action is required by the sender or an administrator, it's routed to a Repository database. The software virtual appliance examines each new message in the Repository and processes them based on an established workflow, such as sending an instant message or email to the sender. When the Mail Arbiter evaluates a message, it marks it so it will not be assessed a second time. This workflow optimizes performance in large enterprise organizations.

Features

  • Continuous Monitoring of Messaging Traffic: Pinpoints possible email abusers and ensures users comply with email policies.
  • Automatic Enforcement of Corporate Email Policy: Reduces email abuse and prevents breaches of confidential data while reducing the burden on IT.
  • Choice of Operation Modes, Passive or Enforce: In Passive mode, Permessa Email Policy Enforcer monitors email but doesn't take action to stop or quarantine messages that violate corporate policies. Users are notified about policy violations so they can learn appropriate email behavior. In Enforce mode, an email is evaluated based on established business rules before it is passed to the sender. If a rule is violated, the solution can be configured to send the user a warning, quarantine the message or reject the message altogether.
  • Detailed Reporting Capabilities: Lets IT staff accurately assess how email is used and demonstrates corporate policy compliance.
  • Complements and Extends Email Server Rules: While Server Rules focuses on preventing offensive email from entering an organization, Permessa Email Policy Enforcer focuses on checking email that's generated by users within an organization.

“Companies are increasingly concerned that the growth in messaging volume hurts productivity, adds unnecessary costs, and creates legal risks. Yet, they want to make sure that email flows smoothly so business proceeds without interruption.”
