Q: When we use Permessa Email Control! to process our global Domino statistics, processing can take a long time. Is there a way to optimize for best performance? During long running tasks is there a way to determine their progress?
A: Yes and yes. We have new tools in version 5.0 of Permessa Email Control! that provide insight into the performance profile of each task and suggest where time is spent and what optimization opportunities exist.
We added a DBProgress table and a Task Progress Summary Report. The DBProgress SQL database table tracks the current processing phase and quantifies how much time has been spent processing each step. DBProgress information can be accessed using SQL commands while the task runs, providing insight into the current progress.
When a task completes, the detailed performance information is provided in a formatted task statistics file that can be viewed with a simple web browser. The size of the SQL database and the time spent processing data, formatting individual reports, creating portals, etc. are all detailed.
