Email Control! for Microsoft Exchange (ECX) empowers IT staff in Microsoft Exchange environments to rapidly diagnose, localize and troubleshoot email performance issues by providing both real-time analysis of messaging transactions and detailed analytical reporting. ECX is able to provide this level of detail with two components: TrackNOW! And InvestigateNOW!
TrackNOW! analyzes user transactions as they occur and lets you send probe messages throughout the environment to test for messaging bottlenecks that may be occurring. TrackNOW! displays the path of the probe message via a graphical topology diagram. The TrackNOW! component can be configured to automatically probe and alert an administrator if it detects an email delivery issue between servers in the Exchange environment.
With TrackNOW! you can accomplish the following:
- Determine when and where messages were sent between users
- Identify whether a specific message was delivered or is still in transit
- Verify that email is being routed efficiently
- Examine how email is actually being routed through the network
- Determine how messages are being sent to, and received from, the Internet (effectively testing mail routing, SMTP gateways and your ISP along the way)
- Be alerted if there are any issues with email delivery in the Exchange environment

InvestigateNOW! is the analytical component of ECX that provides you with a detailed view of your messaging environment by examining user behavior, infrastructure impact, and storage consumption related to mail delivery. It provides access to over 70 existing reports and includes ECX Report Designer for customizing unlimited reports.
With InvestigateNOW! you can determine:
- Where there are opportunities to recover wasted system capacity
- If servers are well balanced and whether mailboxes should be moved to servers with lighter loads
- How much personal email is being sent/received
- What email accounts are abandoned and which mailboxes can be removed
- Service level agreement compliance
- User abuse or misuse of Exchange resources
