- Why can't I just use my existing network and system management products or the reports built into Microsoft Exchange?
While network and system management products deliver essential information on infrastructure and Exchange service performance, these products do not manage or report on individual messages, message routing or user activities. Email Control! provides the missing user and message routing-level insight that IT staff need to view how email usage is impacting the network and underlying infrastructure.

- How scalable is the software?
Designed for small to midsize companies, Email Control! now includes expanded support for complex and geographically distributed Exchange networks in user settings of up to 10,000 seats. These complex networks can span the globe and can include multi-server routing configurations that are especially difficult to troubleshoot. Large organizations with more than 10,000 workstations and operating numerous Exchange servers are good candidates for other products in the Control! family, including Control! Enterprise Edition.

- Does Email Control! make modifications to my Exchange server or Exchange configuration?
- What are probe messages and why would I want to send them?
A probe message is a test email generated by Email Control!. When sent, Email Control! documents via a graphical topology where and how fast the probe message is delivered to its destination, and for some tests, where and how fast it takes for the message to return to the environment. It allows the software to probe the network and report back on such questions as how the email is being routed, whether Internet connectivity has been established, and SMTP gateway and general ISP health.
