CONTROL! Guardian provides IT managers with unprecedented ability to automate and enforce email and IM compliance, security, data protection and enterprise reputation management by stopping noncompliant message traffic before it is sent - ensuring corporate policies are met. While inbound anti-spam and archiving solutions are plentiful, management of outbound Internet and even internal email and IM has been largely overlooked - despite organizational demands to control this information conduit. Also overlooked is the continual increase in internal emailing and IM which needlessly demand more server and network bandwidth as well as demand more user time to process. The messaging platform only provides basic controls - limiting a user's mailbox size or size of a sent message - but provide no control over the content of the email or the impact the message has on the infrastructure. Experience has shown that emails with medium size attachments - between 500KB and 5MB - pose far more significant impact than large emails - say over 10MB in size - which are typically sent to only a few recipients.  Guardian provides fine-grained quotas by person or group, allowing daily/weekly/monthly sending limits. Automated warnings help users modify their behavior before policy limits deny service.
• Enforce appropriate content. Guardian uses real-time content inspection, ranking and workflow to classify each message on personal, confidential and inappropriate dimensions. If content exceeds defined thresholds, Guardian implements defined workflow that includes: not sending the message, terminating the IM conversation, requiring confirmation before sending or even transparently asking for supervisor approval.
