President and Chief Executive Officer
Stefan Mehlhorn is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for technology startups. He has over a decade of in-depth experience in the enterprise-class software industry, managing deployments of large-scale, mission-critical software applications for Fortune 500 customers on four continents. Prior to joining Permessa, Stefan was the Director of Product Strategy, Content Solutions at MRO Software (acquired by IBM), a position he held after selling his former company, Collego, to MRO in August of 2001. As President and CEO of Collego, Stefan was instrumental in developing a next generation content management solution, enabling the XML based distribution of product information within the industrial supply chain.
Prior to his work at Collego, Stefan also held numerous management positions at Siebel Systems (acquired by Oracle); InterActive WorkPlace (acquired by Siebel), and POINT Information Systems, a European CRM company (acquired by S1).
Stefan holds a degree as Diplomingenieur in Computer Science and Information Technology from the Technische Universität Chemnitz, Germany.
Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer
Yuval Shimoni has more than 15 years experience in developing large, complex software systems. Since co-founding Permessa (formerly DYS Analytics) in 1993, he has led the design and development of the award-winning Permessa Control! product lines. Yuval's prior experience includes the design and development of software for control of automated warehouse systems and the development of statistical database analysis systems for Harvard University's School of Public Health.
Yuval earned both his Master of Science and his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.
Chief Marketing Officer
Roger Matus brings more than 20 years of high tech experience to Permessa. Combining a unique blend of marketing and technology expertise, he has successfully brought dozens of innovative products to market including personal computer hardware, video boards, speech recognition software, internet telephony services and audio conferencing equipment. He served as Executive Vice President for WebReply.Com, Chief Marketing Officer for Octave Communications, Vice President of New Products and Technologies for iBasis and both Vice President of New Products and Technologies and Vice President of North American Marketing for Dragon Systems. He also held a series of positions at the Digital Equipment Corporation and ATI Technologies.
Roger has an MBA from the University of Chicago, an M.S. in Engineering from Boston University, and a B.A. in Journalism from Syracuse University.
Director of Software Development
Ken Gartner brings the benefits of nearly 20 years of software development and management experience to the Permessa executive team. Ken is also remains an active developer, architecting the new Permessa CONTROL! Enforcer product family to support realtime mail policy enforcement for Domino. As Director of Software Development, he oversees all software engineering efforts at Permessa. Before joining Permessa, Ken was Engineering Manager for Hitachi Computer Products, where he led teams developing high performance CORBA Enterprise products, contributed to international standards such as the x/Open Universal Measurement Architecture and the POSIX p1003.4 Realtime specifications, and was a conference speaker for the Computer Measurement Group. An industry veteran, Ken has extensive hardware and software development experience -- from the design for hardware LISP machines and the first CMOS CISC PR1MOS Superminicomputer, to OSF/1 UNIX kernel design and its porting to massively parallel hardware, to UNIX kernel debuggers, crash dump analyzers and process tracing, to performant middleware implementations, to XML security for Web Service architectures, to Exchange and Domino collaboration tools, and myriad other server technologies.
Ken holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Director of Finance
Fred Smith has over twenty-five years of financial and operations management experience, the last nine of which he spent managing Permessa’s financial operations, accounting, contracts, and human resource activities. Prior to Permessa, Fred spent 10 years in much the same role at other privately-held early-stage software companies including Envoy Systems, Attain Corporation, and Atreve Software. Before entering the software world, he held corporate financial planning and operations management positions at Waban Inc., Boston Edison, and Peoples Bank of Bridgeport, CT.
Fred holds an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and a BA in English from Princeton University.
